Chevy Youth Soccer Clinic (CYSC) at Community Park

Thanks to Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land, MCUSA hosted a successful Chevy Youth Soccer Clinic (CYSC) at Community Park. The clinic had over 175 kids participate in it, and it was 100% FREE. Judging by the happy look on the faces of the kids throughout the clinic, everyone had a great time. The training was ran by Ex-MLS players Dario Sala, and his staff. Besides the CYSC, Classic Chevrolet also selected MCUSA for the raffle tickets, and as if that wasn't enough, Classic Chevrolet also made a donation of $500 to MCUSA. Pictured above is Mr. Don Kerstetter, Owner of Classic Chevrolet, presenting the $500 donation check to MCUSA President Mario Granados, and club General Manager Robert Hernandez.

We are extremely thankful to Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land, Mr. Don Kerstetter, Ms. Cindy Deis, and all of their staff for being such great people, and for their continued support of MCUSA. If you are looking for a new or used vehicle, please make sure you give the good people of Classic Chevrolet in Sugar Land a call. They will take great care of you!

U11 MCUSA Revolution Fire brings home 1st place hardware from WHSC 2012 Tax Time Tournament

The weekend of April 14th-15th saw many teams compete for the right to take home the spoils of a victory, at the 2012 edition of the West Houston Soccer Club's Tax Time tournament. The talented boys of the Revolution Fire played to a 1-1 draw on their first game. Game two saw the Fire grind out a 1-0 win. Game three saw the Revolution Fire break out with a 3-0 thumping of their eclipse opponent. The game three shutout projected the boys from MCUSA to the championship game, against the West Houston SC team "Manchester U", which they tied 1-1 in game one.

The championship game was thrilling and full of action, with both teams working hard for scoring opportunities. Tough defense was played by both sides, so the second half ended with a score of 0-0. The teams played two 5 minute overtime periods, but the tie could not be broken. All of the Revolution Fire boys played a great game! All of the coaches and parents were estactic about their great performance thus far. The championship game then moved to each team kicking 5 penalty kicks. Penalty goals for MCUSA were scored by Angel Araujo, Isaac Hernandez, and Jeysson Villeda. The WHSC teams also scored three goals, so the game remained deadlocked at 3-3. Sudden death was next... With coaches and parents close to having a heart attack, MCUSA's goalie Isaac Hernandez blocked the opponents next kick, setting up the game winning opportunity for MCUSA. Cesar Granados took the next shot, and in dramatic fashion placed the kick near the left post of the goal, scoring the game winner. The thrill of victory sent players, coaches, and parents on to the field in celebration... It was a great time had by all. CONGRATULATIONS Revolution Fire!

MCUSA U14 Girls Team Attend Three Day Soccer Camp Hosted by Coca Cola and Featuring Several Soccer Stars

Recently the MCUSA U14 Sharks got to attend an all expense paid soccer camp hosted by Coca Cola, US Youth Soccer, STYSA, McDonalds, Adidas, FoodTown, and 97.9 The Box. This camp was limited to 300 youth players from around the state of Texas. This was the first ever Coca Cola Youth Soccer Camp and it was held in Houston on November 16-18, 2012, at the Tony Morran park located near BBVA Compass Stadium, home of the Houston Dynamo.

Several notable soccer stars attended the three day camp and assisted the professional trainers hired for the event. The soccer stars also interacted with the youth players in training sessions, friendly soccer matches, and soccer skills demonstrations. Some of the soccer super stars were 2012 Olympic gold medal winner Alex Morgan from the Women's National Team, three time World Cup player for the USA, Marcelo Balboa, gold medal winner Shannon MacMillan, and goal keeper for FC Dallas Kevin Hartman.

The girls got to meet a lot of teen players from around the state and got to play alongside them, as well as against them in training drills, friendlies, and a "World Cup Final" held on Sunday afternoon. It was a great time for everyone and I am sure the Sharks will be using their new skills learned in the Soccer Camp in upcoming soccer matches.
